Youth facilities Ingelmunster
In June 2018, the construction of the new youth facilities at the former skate park in Ingelmunster was completed. A choice was made for robust youth facilities, without luxurious and expensive finishes, but with rooms that can take a knock here and there. The insertion of the new building was carried out with respect for the current situation at the sports centre, with the rooms themselves acting as a sound buffer with the surrounding neighbourhood. Adjacent to the multifunctional hall, the entire exterior façade was fitted with hot-dip galvanized steel canopies. Commissioned by Myldes, in Bellegem, Staco was happy to take on manufacturing of the gratings for this application.

To limit the incidence of light on hot days, full gratings of the type RK 40-2 mesh 33x33 were used. The equal bar height of these gratings mainly provides a sun protection function when installed vertically, while on colder days there is still sufficient light transmission. The symmetry of the adjoining mesh gratings in hot-dip galvanised steel is also visually in keeping with the design of the architectural style.
A fine example of how awnings are not always constructed from a system with slats, but where horizontal installation of a variety of gratings can offer similar added value.
