Staco Deutschland GmbH unites art and steel on the roof terrace of the Philara in Düsseldorf.
Philara is a private collection of contemporary art. With its strong connection to the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Philara has made its mission to promote local artists. In 2006, Gil Bronner acquired the former Leitz factory in Düsseldorf. It is home to around 70 studios, which are used by classes from the Düsseldorf Art Academy and local artists. Surrounded by the galleries, the hidden new exhibition area with a size of 1,700 square meters is located in the backyard. After a elaborate reconstruction of the former glass factory, a 550 m² sculpture terrace on the roof was created under various exhibition areas.
The facade of the adjacent buildings is protected by a construction made of pressed gratings and gives a closed picture. The use of gratings type RR made of galvanized steel create a uniform, calm look through the crafted full mesh. On the wooden roof terrace, there are several artistic objects and sculptures, which are graced and relished thanks to the beautiful, open ambience and daylight.
Gratings made of galvanized steel are weather-resistant and therefore require minimal maintenance or care. The open mesh allows for smooth air circulation, but this construction provides optimal protection for the facade. The appealing look goes perfectly with the artistic objects and merges with the wooden surface of the terrace to create a wonderful ambience. In total, Staco Deutschland GmbH has supplied over 1,000 square meters of pressed gratings for the facade construction.
